The pathway
Right from the first stretch you enter a mixed wood where you can see hornbeams, ashes, downy oaks and a brushwood made of butcher’s broom. The trail goes on with a slight slope, where you’ll see at first some Judas trees (Siliquastro – Cercis siliquastrum) with their typical heart-shaped leaves, and then some chestnut trees; these let you know that the mountainside has changed and it now has a north-eastern exposure. The forest becomes thicker, fresher and, in the brushwood, you can see the alpine epimedium and the common bracken, that represent real evidence from the Ice Age.

A further deviation on the right goes downhill for about 50 meters in altitude and then, just on the left, it leads to some majestic and ancient beech trees, that are like gold dust for this environment; near these vegetal monuments there is an equipped rest area with benches.

The trail goes slightly uphill, surrounded by vineyards: this is the famous and scenic almond trees avenue, which is lovely to be covered in early spring, when it is in full bloom. From there you can enjoy a 360 degree panorama: in the north the Venda and Vendevolo mounts, in the south the Rusta, Gemola, Cero , Castello, Cecilia, Ricco and Ventolone mounts, that gently slope to the vineyards until the plain.
Next to the Mount Fasolo Farm, a beautiful nettle tree provides shade on a bench for a break; a short distance from here, on the top left-hand side of the mount (301 meters amsl), there is the beautiful little church of Saint Gaetano, surrounded by some cypresses.

Continuing on this dirt road, surrounded by vineyards, you’ll go downhill towards the departure point; if you look around you, you’ll see the outcrops of the sedimentary rocks, which constitute the whole hill (Scaglia rossa - red rocks, Biancone – white rocks, marlstones).
